Kaga Yuzen: traditional Kimono dyeing experience

Kaga Yuzen is one of the traditional fabric dyeing techniques in Japan. It began about 500 years ago in Kaga province which is mainly the Ishikawa Prefecture now. Although the technique is quite old, it is still used by the artists of Kanazawa. The Maida family has been creating Kaga Yuzen pieces for several generations.

In this experience, you will visit the Maida family studio to learn about the regional kimono dyeing technique from a master of the craft. It is an amazing chance to try your hand at making your own design and wear kimonos with unique patterns and motifs representative of the technique.

Transport to and from the location by Private Luxury Wagon (if less than 7 persons) or Bus (if more than 7) from your hotel or location of preference inside the city is included.

By the way, our bus design was made by Hitoshi Maida. He used the Kaga Yuzen technique to incorporate symbols that represent Kanazawa: the Yukitsuri and the emblem of the Maeda family, the Kanazawa rulers during the feudal period.
