Your exclusive evening centres on two private experiences that symbolize Kanazawa’s refined history of cuisine and culture.
This special Kanazawa night begins as you’re met by private car at your Kanazawa accommodations or the in-Kanazawa location of your choice. Your driver and native-English or native-Spanish-speaking facilitator escort you to the unparalleled Sentori Sushi. Generations of locals and visitors have found the tastes, presentation, and ambiance at Sentori the best of their lives.
You will enjoy the exquisite seasonal delicacies of Sentori’s famous omakase sushi dinner (beverages not included) in its private dining room. You will be guided through your 90-minute meal by the sushi master describing everything that goes into making this dining event among your best and most local and authentic ever.
Sentori is renowned for the attention to detail about all ingredients, from its use of a traditional stone kama (rice cooker), specially-made-for-Sentori soy sauce and salt, and of course, the best locally-sourced and seasonal wild fish, shellfish, vegetables, herbs, and seasonings from the land and the sea. Sentori is happy to accommodate vegetarians and vegans and your other dietary concerns (please give us a heads up when you book this exclusive tour).
After this fulfilling culinary extravaganza, your senses will be further stimulated by a private party with the Geigi (another name for Geisha). Your private car and same experience facilitator will transport you to Asanoya to enjoy centuries-old expressions of music, dance, and song that represent feudal Kanazawa. Situated in the Western Geisha district, Asanoya, for centuries, has hosted guests clamoring for an evening of entertainment. The Geigi, decades-long practitioners of the arts and making guests feel comfortable, will invite you to try drumming and dancing and singing in an evening of release-your-inner-samurai-fun. Savoring this aspect of cultural Kanazawa, under the encouraging eyes and gentle instruction of these lifelong artisans, is a perfect way to end your once-in-a-lifetime Kanazawa evening. Beverages (sake, beer, non-alcoholic) and snacks will be served during this unforgettable cultural interaction that is fun and insightful about Japanese traditions.
Please remember that the Asanoya 90-minute soiree is held in a private room where you’ll be seated on cushions on a tatami floor. It is considered respectful to wear your preference of socks and long pants, or a dress and socks or nylons, irrespective of the season. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have accessibility concerns.
After these two extraordinary Kanazawa evening experiences, you’ll be driven to your accommodations or in-Kanazawa location of your choice.
